Under a high magnification of 400X, this hematoxylin-eosin-stained (H&E) photomicrograph depicts the cytoarchitectural changes found in a liver tissue specimen extracted from an Ebola disease patient in Zaire. This particular view reveals an “acidophilic necrosis leading to the formation of a Councilman body, and cytoplasmic inclusions. A steatotic (fatty change) vesicle was caught in the process of formation.”
